Sitting down with cuppa, having a chat and playing with your feline guests and letting the world go by… so the latest trend for cat cafés does not surprise us in the slightest!
The Meow Parlour opened its doors in New York City not too long ago. It “combines sweet cats and delicious sweets” – two of our favourite things! Meow Parlour have teamed up with a cat rescue, so if you fall in love with one of their resident cats, you can actually adopt him or her. Here in the UK, Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium in London is the trendsetting place to be, if you fancy spending some quality time with cats and cake!
Home to 11 rescue cats, Lady Dinah’s Cat Emporium offers city dwellers, who might not have the time or space to have their own cats, the soothing company of our feline friends. If you fancy meeting Mue, Biscuit, Romeo or any of the other resident cats, you’ll need to book a timeslot in advance, as the cats’ well-being is paramount and only a certain number of guests are allowed into the café. Unfortunately Lady Dinah’s resident cats can’t be adopted, so you’ll just have to keep coming back to see your favourite cats or follow them on Twitter. Yes, Lady Dinah’s cats have their own Twitter accounts!
The first ever cat café was opened in Taiwan in 1998, but the Japanese really warmed to the idea. Today, there are 39 cat cafés in Tokyo alone!
More and more cat cafés are opened all over the world every month. What a wonderful way of letting those who can’t have a cat in their life share their company!
