As Valentine’s Day approaches and the chance of going out for a romantic dinner date or to cuddle up in a movie theatre, seem like a distant memory, we thought it was worth celebrating the love that so many of us do get to experience in our lives every day. Here at Longcroft, we want to celebrate the enormous love and affection we have for our feline friends, and, as every cat owner will know, the special ways that only a pussycat can show their love for us in return …

During lockdown, an increasing number of Brits have chosen to share their homes with a new furry friend. If lockdown has left many of us craving company, then a feline friend can help us to feel the love and give us some of the companionship we need to help improve our mental health and wellbeing.

At Longcroft we know that the relationships our customers have with their pussycats are incredibly important to them and that’s why we do our utmost to offer felines a home-from-home experience when they stay at any of our gorgeous cat hotels. We believe every owner deserves peace of mind that their beloved kitties are in the safest of hands. Our Longcroft hotel owners know a great deal about what makes our furry friends tick. As well as knowing how to offer the highest standard of accommodation and care to pussycats, we have experienced time and again the very special ways that kitties show their love for their humans … 

It’s not only purring that shows a cat’s adoration for you, but signs of pussycat love include ‘bunting’, when a cat nudges or rubs you with his head to let you know he likes you, or they may roll on the ground in front of you to signify that they’d like to play or have your attention. Ever seen your cat give you a slow blink from across the room? It’s her way of expressing a sort of cat kiss. Many cats will ‘groom’ or lick their owners to show affection and there’s no feeling quite like a snoozing pussycat curled up in your lap, to demonstrate they feel safe and secure in your presence. You may not be that keen on your cat kneading, but it’s often what they do to show they’re relaxed and content. And of course, no Valentine’s Day would be complete without a gift, even if that’s not necessarily the kind of gift you’d had in mind. When our kitties proudly present us with a toy or even a mouse, it’s their way of sharing and caring!
