The Seddon Family – The Family Behind Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel, Winchmore Hill, Amersham

Longcroft Luxury Cat Hotel in Winchmore Hill, Amersham opened its doors in March 2014. It has been a fabulously busy two years and a lot has happened in that time. We are looking forward to many more successful and exciting years ahead, which I hope to share with you all through my blog. So to kick it off I thought it would be nice to put faces and names to the people behind the scenes here at Longcroft Winchmore Hill!

This is me, Emma Seddon…owner of Longcroft Cat Hotel in Winchmore Hill, Amersham and a serious cat lover! Cats have been a passion ever since I was a child when a stray black and white female called Pupa came to live with us. From that moment onwards I was hooked. There is something about the independent feline, which I can relate to.  Since then, cats and animals have featured heavily in my personal life.

As a child I always dreamed of working with animals, but I ended up following a career in I.T instead. However just over two years ago I was in the very fortunate position of seeing this fantastic franchise opportunity on TV and I knew then instantly that was going to be my dream job…and I can confirm, it is! 🙂 Aside from cats my other interests include horse riding, cooking, gardening and wine!

This is Mark my long-suffering husband and (mostly silent) business partner. He works as an IT Consultant Manager and leaves me to manage the day to day running of the cat hotel, but is equally happy checking in guests and showing clients around.

How does he feel being surrounded by so many cats? Luckily he accepted a long time ago that he was always going to be quite far down the pecking order when it came to my animals. Then children came along… let’s just say he has accepted his place in our extended family with good grace! When not looking after all of us he can be found cycling, watching Friends or sport.

My beautiful daughters, Ellie aged 7 and Martha aged 2. Ellie especially, has taken after her mummy and loves anything to do with cats and horses. She loves to help me welcome our new guests and help them settle, especially our younger guests! Martha loves Peppa Pig and causing mischief!

Our Pets

Charlie is our 3 year old ginger and white rescue cat who we’ve had since he was a kitten. He is an avid hunter and loves to bring me presents of birds and live field mice! He can often by found scampering across the garden as I’m checking in our guests or secretly playing with the children’s toys when he thinks no-one is looking!

Molly is the latest addition to our family. At just 9 weeks old she only came home last week. Another rescue kitten with a huge personality and already we can’t imagine life without her!

Last but not least are the horses.

This is Alfie, my horse.  Alfie is 4 years old and already 17hh. He is a homebred Dutch Warmblood by Johnson. He has been handled extensively as a foal and is now a gentle giant. He started his career under saddle at the end of last year and we are looking forward to the Spring so we can start again properly.

Charlie (Charlie Rascal) is Ellie’s pony we have on loan. At 21 years old he is teaching her everything he knows, including how to be a rascal. They have a great bond and have been enjoying some low key Pony Club events together.
