Why do Longcroft insist on cat vaccinations?
Hello cat lovers,
if you are already a Longcroft customer you know that we have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to cat vaccinations.
For the safety of all of our guests, all Longcroft cat hotels ask that your cat is vaccinated against Feline Enteritis, Feline Influenza (Cat Flu) and Feline Leukaemia. We ask each owner to provide a vaccination certificate before check-in and regret that we are unable to accept any guests without an up-to-date one. This goes for indoor as well as outdoor cats.
Vaccinations offer efficient protection against potentially fatal diseases and are generally very safe. They will protect your own cat against these diseases as well as minimise the risk of diseases spreading. Core vaccinations are usually given to kittens between 8-9 weeks, with follow ups a few weeks later and yearly boosters.
Your vet will be happy to discuss cat vaccinations with you and put your cat on the right vaccination schedules and issue the vaccination certificate.
Cats from abroad
If you are moving to the UK from abroad or adopt a cat from abroad, your cat will routinely be vaccinated against rabies only. It is up to you to ensure that your cat is vaccinated against other diseases as well. Please keep this in mind if you plan to use Longcroft cat hotels during your international move!

What is Feline Influenza (Cat Flu)?
Cat flu is commonly caused by either feline herpesvirus (also known as Feline Rhinotracheitis) or Feline Calicivirus. Symptoms include sneezing, nasal discharge, watery eyes, fever and general lethargy.
What is Feline Leukaemia?
Feline Leukaemia is a virus that induces lymphoma, a cancer of white blood cells affecting the lymph nodes, bone marrow and potentially
other internal organs. It suppresses the immune system, which leads to a wide range of other diseases.
